In this class, the child will begin in the water with their parent and then progress to the parent on the side of the pool, and eventually off the deck and out of sight. The goal of this class is for the child to swim solely with the instructor(s) by the end of the session. Kicking both on front and back, “scooping arms”, and roll over breathing will be introduced.

This introduction to swimming class is for the new and inexperienced swimmer. Children work to become comfortable with back and front tummy floats and with submerging themselves underwater. The foundation of streamline will be introduced.

This level is for swimmers who are able to swim freestyle and backstroke over short distances and are now ready to learn side breathing for freestyle. This level is where students put it all together to make progress in the pool.

This class is for the nervous swimmer or the beginner. Children work to become comfortable with back and front tummy floats and with submerging themselves underwater. The foundation of streamline will be introduced. Please Note: This class is the equivalent of Frogs, but for an older age group.

This level is for swimmers who are confident in their freestyle and comfortable in the water. Swimmers will work on breathing to the side in freestyle and gaining proficiency in backstroke. This level will also teach butterfly and breaststroke kicks. Please note: this class is taught in the competition pool.

NOTE: On 8/1, this class will be held in the Recreation pool due to an event happening in the Competition pool.

This level is for swimmers confident in their freestyle and backstroke and comfortable with butterfly and backstroke kicks. Swimmers will master bilateral breathing for freestyle, learn how to execute flip turns, sit-down dives, and learn proper butterfly and breaststroke technique. Please note: this class is taught in the competition pool.

NOTE: On 8/1, this class will be held in the Recreation pool due to an event happening in the Competition pool.

This class is designed for young swimmers, typically ages 8-16 who are new to competitive swimming. This group focuses on building a strong foundation in technique, endurance, and the fundamentals of competitive swimming in a fun and supportive environment. This group is ideal for swimmers ready to transition from lessons or recreational programs to a more structured and competitive setting. Practices are designed to challenge swimmers while keeping sessions engaging and balanced.

Please note that this group is separate from the Swim School program and is run in our Swim Club program.


Prerequisite: Sharks level or above; OR prerequisites listed below:

100 yard freestyle (able to breath on both sides)
50 yard backstroke
50 yard breaststroke
25 yard butterfly
Sit down and kneeling dives from the side of the pool
Somersault in the water

This class is an introduction to competitive swimming for children ages 8-16. Through this program, swimmers will improve upon their endurance skills and techniques in each of the four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Swimmers will also be refining their starts and turns, learning quality and healthy training techniques, and good sportsmanship and community.

50 yard butterfly
100 IM continuous
Attempt racing starts and flipturns

This class is designed for swimmers ages 12-17 who are passionate about taking their skills to the next level. This program offers an intensive, competitive swimming experience; participants will focus on technique refinement, strength and endurance training, race strategies, and a dryland component to build overall athleticism. This program is ideal for swimmers ready to commit to rigorous training both in and out of the water, as well as experiencing the excitement of competitive swimming.

Ages 11 – 13.

Designed for preteens, this beginner Ballroom Standard class develops strong technique and graceful movement while keeping classes engaging and social. Each week students will explore a different style, learning foundational steps, musical phrasing, frame, and simple partnered sequences. The class balances drills, musical timing exercises, and partner work to build confidence for social dancing and performance. No partner or prior experience required—bring energy and curiosity to discover a new style each week.

Beginner Youth Aerial Dance for ages 7 - 10. This is an aerial and acrobatic class designed to engage and delight your child. Working primarily with aerial silks suspended from the ceiling, they'll explore how to swing, climb, hang and wrap to create beautiful poses and fun sequences. In our small group classes, we'll work with your child's individual skill level and interest to build confidence and self-esteem while building strength and flexibility.

Designed for kids aged 9-17 and an accompanying parent, this class teaches the fundamentals of small boat sailing, including steering and handling sails, boat rigging, and knot tying. Safe boating principles and fundamentals regarding wind patterns will also be discussed. The class is designed for new sailors and requires that participants are already comfortable on the water. When registering for a family learn to sail program, only the child will be registered but both child and parent will participate in the class.

Learn to Sail participants are eligible for a 20 % discount on a Sailing Pavilion season pass. An automatic 20% discount will be applied after you have registered for a Learn to Sail class during the 2026 season. Please note that this discounted pass will be cancelled if you cancel your class registration.

In order to take a Learn to Sail, participants must sign a swim waiver attesting to swimming ability which will be emailed ahead of the first class.

Your child will spend the summer developing new peer relationships and challenging themselves physically by participating in activities such as swimming, rock climbing, and sports. Each day will also include time for arts & crafts, games or reading. Weather permitting, campers will eat lunch outdoors each day.

This camp option is for ages 5 & 6.
Camp will not be held on Friday, June 19.

All 5 yr. olds must be entering Kindergarten as of September 2026.

Your child will spend the summer developing new peer relationships and challenging themselves physically by participating in activities such as swimming, rock climbing, and sports. Each day will also include time for arts & crafts, games or reading. Weather permitting, campers will eat lunch outdoors each day.

This option is for 7 & 8 yr. olds.

Camp will not be held on Friday, June 19.

Campers at Extended Day will have access to a diverse range of activities from 4pm-6pm, including Arts & Crafts and Gym Games. Climbing may also be offered on some days depending on the availability of the space.

Our camps are for dancers and aerialists for all levels ages 8-12. Students will hone their aerial and technical dance skills in a fun and supportive environment, collaborate with our teachers to learn and create choreography and improve their performance skills for the culminating informal showing on the final day. The two-week sessions will culminate in an informal performance on the aerial apparatus as well as choreography by counselors and campers, themselves. The one-week session will have a final “photo shoot” where campers can show families what they have worked on in class. The mornings will be dedicated to dance styles, with contemporary, hip hop, jazz, ballet, and choreography finishing with a daily recreational swim period. Weather permitting, lunch will be eaten outdoors. The afternoons will be dedicated to aerial skills and acrobatics with one of the BU Dance program’s aerial instructors. Other fun activities include gym time, games, and costume projects.

The Camp Terrier: Dance Arts option is for children ages 8-12.

Campers in the Sailing focus will spend the majority of the afternoon on the beautiful Charles River. Spaces are limited.
*Note: in order to participate in the sailing program, the camper must be at a level 4 swimming status as recommended by the American Red Cross Standards, and as evaluated by our aquatics staff. This swim assessment will be conducted on their first day of camp. If the camper does not pass the swim test, they will be put into the Sports and Recreation group.

The Camp Terrier: Sports & Recreation, Sailing Focus option is for ages 10, 11, 12, and 13.

Campers in the Sailing focus will spend the majority of the afternoon on the beautiful Charles River. Sailors will continue to build upon their sailing skills by learning racing basics, tacking, jibing, rigging, capsize recovery, launching, docking, and waterfront safety.


*Note: in order to participate, the camper must be a level 4 swimmer as recommended by the American Red Cross Standards, and as evaluated by our aquatics staff.

This program is for experienced youth sailors ages 10, 11, 12, and 13.

Spaces are limited.

The Sports & Recreation option has been created for those campers who enjoy a variety of sports and recreational activities such as court sports, gym games, climbing and swimming.

This option is for ages 9-10.
