Basic First Aid, CPR, AED - 213101

Students will learn how to perform the lifesaving skills used in respiratory and cardiac emergencies as well as basic treatments for a variety of injuries and illnesses. Topics include bandaging, splinting, wound care, and CPR/AED use for adults, children and infants. Topics will be covered in lecture and reinforced through practice. Those who pass will be certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED for two years.

This class is held in a hybrid format. Participants will receive an email shortly before the class date with instructions to access and complete the online portion of the class. This portion must be completed before meeting in-person on the class date. Participants will be emailed with a 2-hour time slot for the in-person session between 10 am and 6 pm; the class does not meet during the entire period from 10 am to 6 pm.

Healthcare Provider CPR - 213250

In this course students learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants using a resuscitation mask, bag-valve mask, and automatic external defibrillator as well as more advanced techniques for special rescue situations. Those who pass a written and practical exam become certified in Healthcare Provider CPR through ECSI for two years.

Spring Hybrid Emergency Medical Technician - 213403

This course consists of online lectures delivered in real time by an instructor. Students must have a computer with a working webcam, speakers, a microphone, and reliable internet access. This course prepares students to take the written and practical EMT exams issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the National Registry of EMTs. Additional in-person practical skills sessions are required to be eligible for certification. Labs will be held in person on select days at Boston University. Class fees include required textbooks, materials, and CPR training lab and certification fees.
