    317083 - Rowing, Beginning

Participants are taught the fundamentals of the sweep rowing stroke on land, then in a stable training barge, and then in eight oared rowing shells. Sweep rowing is the style of rowing where each athlete holds one oar with both hands, and is commonly seen in college and Olympic rowing. Itís a great introduction to the sport in a group setting where teamwork is a major component of the class! Basic safety instruction and procedures are also taught and emphasized. It may be necessary to steer and take control of a crew and boat as a coxswain as part of the class. Prerequisite: Successful completion of the BU Boating Swim Test
