    113417 - Emergent Anaphylaxis

    This three hour class will discuss the anatomy and physiology of an anaphylactic emergency. Students will be taught to recognize the difference between mild and severe allergic reactions and how to treat these emergencies. Class will include small group exercises and hands on work with equipment to replicate real-life conditions.

    Note: This continuing education course is designed primarily for BU EMS operations staff. The course is open to the general public, but objectives are centered on patient care at Boston University facilities.

    This program meets the National Core Competency Requirements for recertification at the National Registry EMT, EMT-Basic, and MA EMT-Basic level. This course also meets the requirements for the National Registry EMT-Basic to EMT transition course. It is a 20-hour course. The course covers topics including, but not limited to: airway management, respiratory emergencies, cardiovascular emergencies, trauma assessment and skills, medical assessment and skills, and EMS operations.
