    213300 - Healthcare Provider CPR Recert

    This three-hour class is for those currently certified in Healthcare Provider CPR or the equivalent. The class consists of a review of all adult, child, and infant CPR skills. Those who pass the written and practical exam receive a new two-year certification in Healthcare Provider CPR. Class fee does not include required text and resuscitation mask. EMTs can recieve 4 hours of MA continuing education.

    213406 - NCCR

    This program meets the National Core Competency Requirements for recertification at the National Registry EMT, EMT-Basic, and MA EMT-Basic level. This course also meets the requirements for the National Registry EMT-Basic to EMT transition course. It is a 20-hour course. The course covers topics including, but not limited to: airway management, respiratory emergencies, cardiovascular emergencies, trauma assessment and skills, medical assessment and skills, and EMS operations.

    Large Venue Patient Care Emergencies
    The class will train students to provide care at large venues. Buildings such as a concert settings or arenas represent specific challenges for providers. This class will center on preparing students for specific emergencies such as intoxicated patrons and musculoskeletal injuries common to such locations. OEMS approved for 3 hours of continuing education credit.
    Note: This continuing education course is designed primarily for BU EMS operations staff. The course is open to the general public, but objectives are centered on patient care at Boston University facilities.

    213425 - Legal & Ethical Considerations

    Legal and Ethical Considerations for EMS Providers
    This class will discuss issues specific to legal and ethical considerations for EMS providers. Taught by a practicing attorney, the lecture will review issues such as a consent, refusal and legal responsibility. Given the many complexities in dealing with various legal and ethical issues that providers face in the field, this class will attempt to make students more prepared to make decisions that will improve patient care and reduce exposure to medical liability.
