This class introduces girls and boys to the fundamentals of dance in a lively, structured environment. The vocabulary draws from different dance styles and lays the foundation for further study. Your child will improve coordination, fitness, balance, and musicality. The class will include creative problem-solving activities that encourage students to create their own steps and explore their own style.
The concepts of ballet are presented using both traditional and creative approaches. Your child will develop his/her flexibility, balance, musicality and grace in a supportive and empowering atmosphere.
Children learn the basics of ballet technique and begin to develop their modern movement vocabulary. They will have fun working creatively and learning classical dance technique at an appropriate level. This class is great for students who have previously taken Pre-Ballet or a basic movement class.
4-week session and cross-listed with adult Aerial Silks Skills: Learn to climb, swing, drop, flip, spin, and perform using two vertical lengths of very strong, Aerial Silk material suspended from the ceiling. In our small group classes, we'll work with your child's individual skill level and interest to build confidence and self-esteem while exploring fun and cool activities. Wear comfortable, tight-fitting clothing (tights or leggings, no wide-bottom pants) and make sure that your stomach, the backs of the knees, and armpits are covered. All levels are welcome, and some level of core* and leg strength is beneficial. We'll help them develop their coordination, strength, flexibility and sense of play!Note: No class on June 7th, 2017
